HC Deb 17 December 1957 vol 580 c25W
10. Mr. Oliver

asked the Minister of Works whether he can now make a statement about the future of Watnall Hall, near Nottingham.

Mr. Molson

I had hoped to acquire and repair Watnall Hall, but I have recently been advised that the house is likely to be damaged by mining subsidence and that the estimated cost of the scheme would be higher than was at first thought. I have therefore felt obliged to accept the recommendation of the Historic Buildings Council for England that I should not acquire the property.
