HC Deb 17 December 1957 vol 580 cc33-4W
46. Mr. Lewis

asked the Prime Minister whether he will raise at the forthcoming North Atlantic Treaty Organisation Conference in Paris the possibility of the four Big Powers accepting Mr. Krushchev's offer of summit talks.

Mr. R. A. Butler

I have been asked to reply.

No such formal proposal to hold talks has been made by the Soviet Government. My right hon. Friend told the House on 12th December that he would discuss these vital matters with other Heads of Government at the current North Atlantic Treaty Organisation Meeting.
