Mr. McKay

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer with regard to the £304 million contributed by employers to the National Insurance Fund in 1956, which categories of employers paid the £89 million which was not paid by employers in the private trading sector; and what relief of taxation they received in consequence of this sum being treated as a trading expense.

The central Government, local authorities, public corporations and private individuals not engaged in a trading activity.
