HC Deb 17 December 1957 vol 580 c51W
105. Mr. Dodds

asked the Minister of Health under what circumstances money credited to the account of a high-grade mental patient, accumulated from savings from the 7s. 6d. weekly allowance, can be withdrawn under his Regulations without seeking permission from the patient concerned to purchase essential clothing for the patient.

Mr. Walker-Smith

The normal practice is for high-grade patients to spend their own money or for purchases to be made for them with their consent. If the hon. Member has a particular case in mind and will send me particulars I will look into it.
