asked the Minister of Health what has been the general death-rate from all diseases in each of the last 20 years in North Shields and South Shields; and what was the infantile death-rate in those areas during that period.

Separate figures for North Shields are not available. In the following table figures are given for South Shields County Borough and for Tyne-mouth County Borough which includes the area known as North Shields.

In the period from 1st November, 1956, to 10th December, 1957, 229 motoring offences were reported, including 194 offences of exceeding the speed limit.

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many cases of exceeding the speed limit on the West Cromwell Road extension have been reported since the new 40 miles-per-hour limit came into force.

Up to 10th December, 19 drivers had been reported for exceeding the 40 miles an hour speed limit.
