§ Sir F. Markhamasked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation to what extent it is the policy of his Department to welcome suggestions from civil servants for improvements and economies in his own Department which have not first been screened by Whitley Councils.
§ Mr. WatkinsonThe staff of my Department are constantly encouraged to make suggestions for improving methods of work and increasing efficiency. They have been told that proposals for securing economies are particularly important. The committee which considers suggestions includes representatives of the official and the staff sides of the Departmental Whitley Council, but the Council does not screen its recommendations.
