§ Mr. R. A. ButlerI am informed by the Commissioner of Police that appropriate action is taken whenever lighting offences come to notice. In 1956 in the Metropolitan Police District 2,277 persons were prosecuted and 12,581 received written cautions in cases in which either one or both front lights were not being shown. In addition, nearly 70,000 oral warnings were given.
