HC Deb 12 December 1957 vol 579 c144W
12. Mr. Sorensen

asked the President of the Board of Trade how the present export of motor cars to the United States of America compares with exports during the last five years; and what consultations he has had with motor car manufacturers with a view to their still greater adaptation of cars to meet United States requirements.

Sir D. Eccles

Exports to the United States of America of new cars during the first ten months of this year were valued at £31.4 million. The comparable figures for the previous five years have varied between £8.4 million and £12.6 million. The motor manufacturers have, therefore, been very successful in this market and they are the best judges of how to maintain the expansion of sales.
