HC Deb 12 December 1957 vol 579 c145W
24. Mr. Beswick

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer why the arrangements to cover by insurance hon. Members who suffer death or injury whilst travelling on Parliamentary business do not extend to those all-party delegations invited by Ministers to inspect the work of their respective Departments; why the visit of the all-party delegation to the Royal Air Force Station, Waddington, on 26th September, and the proposed flight in the Vulcan bomber by two hon. Members, were specifically excluded; and what was the estimated saving achieved by these exclusions.

Mr. Powell

Because the arrangements to which the hon. Member refers relate to travel on the business of this House. They could not be applied to journeys such as those which the hon. Member mentions.
