HC Deb 11 December 1957 vol 579 cc141-2W
Mr. Patrick Maitland

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether, in view of the occurrence of road accidents at the bridge outside Forth on the Forth-West Calder road, he is satisfied with the safety measures currently in force.

Mr. Maclay

This bridge is on a classified road for which Lanarkshire County Council is the highway authority. I understand that reflector posts have recently been erected to assist traffic.

Mr. Patrick Maitland

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many road accidents involving injury or otherwise have occurred since the war, and in the current year, at the road bridge outside Forth on the West Calder-Forth road.

Mr. Maclay

Between 1st January, 1946, and 30th November, 1957, there have been six accidents, at or near this bridge involving injury to nine persons and three accidents not involving injury. Of these accidents three involving injury to three persons and two not involving injury occurred during 1957.
