asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation (1) whether he is aware of the anxiety of the public concerning the dangers of using the Belisha crossing at the junction of Amroth Road and Cowbridge Road, Cardiff; and whether he will make a statement on the action proposed in this matter;

(2) whether he will have traffic signals installed at the junction of Amroth Road and Cowbridge Road, Cardiff.

Mr. Nugent

I am aware of the anxiety resulting from the recent fatal accident which occurred during road works. The zebra crossing has now been replaced, with a slight improvement in siting. I do not think that the installation of light signals at this junction would be justified on traffic grounds.

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation whether he will state the number of accidents, fatal and otherwise, respectively, that have happened on Cowbridge Road, West Cardiff, during the past twelve months.
