§ 66. Mr. Teelingasked the Secretary of State for War why Staff Sergeant Armament Artificer Sherwin, his wife, son, and twin daughters aged 19 months, one of whom has chronic asthma, were informed only on 20th November that they must leave their quarters in Oldenburg by the end of November: and why only two alternative quarters, both unsuitable for a sick child, have been offered them when there are seven officers' quarters which would be suitable lying empty, and for which they are prepared to pay the difference in rent.
§ Mr. John HareStaff-Sergeant Sherwin and his family occupy a house requisitioned from German civilians. We now have our own married quarters available and we wish to return the requisitioned property to its owners. The first two married quarters offered to Staff-Sergeant Sherwin were not acceptable to him but he was offered his choice of five others, one of which he has accepted.
