§ 45. Mr. Emrys Hughesasked the Prime Minister, in view of the changed situation since the foundation of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, if he will propose at the forthcoming meeting a strategy more likely to relieve the heavy burden of military expenditure on the peoples of Europe and less likely to lead to their destruction.
§ Mr. R. A. ButlerI have been asked to reply.
The strategy and tactics of the forces under the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation must, of course, be continuously reviewed to meet the needs of the current situation. My right hon. Friend would find it easier, however, to answer the hon. Gentleman's Question in greater detail if he was able to apprehend the meaning of the last part of the Question and if he was satisfied that the hon. Member wholeheartedly supported the efforts being made to defend the free world.
