HC Deb 04 December 1957 vol 579 c43W
57. Mr. Dodds

asked the Secretary of State for War if he will make a statement giving all the circumstances which warranted an 18-year-old girl being flown out by his Department from this country to Malaya to enable he to marry a Service man who has been in Malaya for 12 months.

Mr. John Hare

A soldier's fiancée may travel at public expense to be married overseas, and is subject to the same rules which govern the travel of married families. This has been the practice in peacetime for many years.
