Mr. Awberyasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether he is aware that many houses and flats in our cities have been untenanted for three months, serving no useful purpose as vacant property and paying no rates; and what financial assistance he will give to local authorities which decide to purchase these properties.
§ Mr. H. BrookeLocal authorities do not need financial assistance to acquire houses, unless the houses are to be improved or converted. Grants for these purposes are already available.
