HC Deb 03 December 1957 vol 579 cc22-3W
63. Sir W. Wakefield

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies, in view of the fact that parts of the British Commonwealth for which Her Majesty's Government are responsible are geographically exceptionally favourable for the use of solar energy, why the United Kingdom is lagging so far behind the United Slates of America in this particular field of research and development.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

Some work of potential value to Colonial Territories has been conducted in this country. Several Government scientific institutions including the Tropical Products Institute keep in touch with international developments in this field and have given Colonial Territories advice about them.
