104. Mr. Wigg

asked the Minister of Defence if he will now publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT the recruiting figures for the three Services for October, 1957, set out in the same form as that of the monthly Press release published by his Department; and if he will give the figures for the same month in 1956, set out in the same form.

† As the figures relate to men taken on strength during the month and not actual entries which take place somewhat earlier, the effect of the new basic six year engagement on Army recruiting for both long and short service recruiting is not fully reflected in them.
