HC Deb 02 August 1957 vol 574 cc275-6W
Colonel R. H. Glyn

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will give the average production per acre of farms under 100 acres in size for 1939 and at the latest convenient date, and the same information for farms of 300 acres and over.

Mr. Amory

The available information relates to a small sample of farms covered by the Farm Management Survey which is undertaken by the agricultural economists at the universities. In the size groups nearest to those asked for, analysis of this information shows that in 1954–55 net output per acre on farms of 50 to 100 acres was £29 and on farms of 300 to 500 acres was £25. No comparable analysis is available for 1939.
