Mr. Thornton

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies the main countries of origin of the 274 million square yards of cotton cloth imported into Hong Kong in 1956.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd:

The main countries of origin were Japan (145 million square yards)and China (101 million square yards).
