§ Mr. Lewisasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether, in view of new circumstances that have arisen since the passing of the Rent Act, 1957, such as the Governments' warning on inflation, and the recently announced increases in the price of coal, gas and electricity together with increased fares, he will introduce legislation to suspend the operation of the Rent Act, 1957, so as to assist towards combating the effects of inflation which the operation of this Act will have on the country's economy.
