§ 84. Mr, Knox Cunninghamasked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation if he will take steps to agree an official English translation of the various enactments referred to in Section 6 of the Administration of Justice Act, 1956, with the Rhine Navigation Authority at Strasbourg, and make such translation available so that British shipowners and their advisers may be in a position to ascertain to what extent their right to justice in the courts of the United Kingdom has been restricted since 1st January, 1957.
§ Mr. WatkinsonThe authentic languages of the Rhine Convention are French and German, and an English translation which would rank equally with them would require the agreement of all the signatory Powers. It does not seem to me worthwhile to try to achieve this agreement, particularly since, so far as I am aware, no practical difficulties have arisen.
