27. Mr. Rippon

Mr. Selwyn Lloyd

Yes. Her Majesty's Government have received a request from the Government of Iraq to assist in the equipment of the Royal Iraqi Air Force with modern swept-wing fighter aircraft. Her Majesty's Government propose to make a gift to the Government of Iraqi of five Hunter Mark VI aircraft. The gift will include the supply of spares for three months, free delivery of the aircraft to Iraq, and the provision free of charge of a servicing party to assist the Royal Iraqi Air Force in maintaining the aircraft when they arrive. Provision for this gift will be made in the Supplementary Estimates to be laid before the House in due course.
