HC Deb 17 April 1957 vol 568 c193W
49. Brigadier Clarke

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what progress has been made with regard to building a deep-water harbour in Cyprus.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

The Cyprus Government announced last November its decision to proceed with a major extension of Famagusta Harbour which will more than double its present capacity. Detailed plans and specifications are being prepared in order that tenders may be invited. Work on new access roads to the extension of the port area will be starting next week.
