§ 56. Mr. Beswickasked the Prime Minister if, in view of the fact that a disarmament convention offers one of the most effective means of national defence and security, he will arrange for the Minister of Defence to have primary responsibility for British representation at the United Nations Disarmament Sub-Committee meetings.
§ The Prime MinisterNo. Primary responsibility for negotiations with foreign Governments on behalf of Her Majesty's Government lies with my right hon. and learned Friend the Foreign Secretary. The Minister of Defence and other Ministers are, of course, regularly consulted on matters arising out of the work of the Disarmament Sub-Committee.
