Mr. Mahon

asked the Minister of Labour (I) how many Remploy factories there are in the Liverpool and Bootle areas; and what is the recruitment area for labour in these factories;

(2) how many disabled and able-bodied persons are employed in Remploy factories in the Liverpool and Bootle areas; and if he will state these numbers for the years 1952 to 1956;

(3) when the last medical panels were held for recruitment in the Remploy factories in the Liverpool and Bootle areas; and what was the additional disabled and able-bodied labour force recruited into these factories in the year 1956.

There are Remploy factories at Bootle, St. Helens and Wallasey. Table I below shows the respective recruitment areas for these factories. Table II gives the numbers employed in the factories in February of each year from 1952–57 and the numbers of new workers recruited during 1956. Recruitment panels were last held at Bootle in August, 1954, at St. Helens in February, 1957, and at Wallasey in March, 1957.
