HC Deb 09 April 1957 vol 568 c105W
57. Captain Kerby

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether, in view of Her Majesty's Government's insistence on the six points approved by the United Nations on 13th October for the future operation of the Suez Canal, he is prepared to accept an agreement which does not allow free passage through the Suez Canal for Israeli shipping.

Mr. Ormsby-Gore

No agreement would be acceptable to Her Majesty's Government which did not provide for freedom of transit for all ships without discrimination, in accordance with the 1888 Convention and the six principles of the Security Council Resolution of 13th October, 1956.
