§ Mr. Maclays It is not possible to give figures for each local authority's area, because many students attend educational institutions outside the areas to which they belong. For Scotland as a whole in January, 1956, the latest date for which information is available, the figures were 17 per cent. in full-time courses, 7 per cent. in part-time day-release courses, and 22 per cent. in other part-time (mainly evening) courses.
