§ 59. Mr. Russellasked the President of the Board of Trade the total value of imports subjected to the general ad valorem duty of 10 per cent. in the year ended 31st March, 1956, and the total value subjected to all rates of duty under the Import Duties Act.

The answer to the second part is£463,700,000 in respect of all goods liable toad valorem duties under the Import Duties Act. The value of goods liable to specific duties is not available, but the yield of those duties was about£5 million during the period in question out of a total yield of£67 million from all goods liable under the Act.
§ 60. Mr. Russellasked the President of the Board of Trade the total value of imports admitted into the United Kingdom duty free in the financial year ended 31st March, 1956, and the total value of imports which were subjected to protective duties and revenue duties, respectively.
