HC Deb 03 April 1957 vol 568 cc61-2W
73. Mr. Willey

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what action has been taken by Her Majesty's Government pursuant to the Resolution (54) 19 of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe on the prevention of animal epidemics and protection of plants.

Mr. Godber

The United Kingdom is an active member of the Food and Agriculture Organisation, the International Epizootics Office and the European Commission on Foot and Mouth Disease, and has co-operated fully in their work. With regard to plant inspection I understand that the Council of the European and Mediterranean Plant Protection Organisation, of which we are also members, will be considering these matters at its meeting this month.
