asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what steps he proposes to authorise to increase road safety at Steel's Cross, Lanark.

Proposals for the improvement of the junction to allow easier access from the Class I road (A.72) to the trunk road (A.73) have been agreed with Lanarkshire County Council and Lanark Town Council. It is hoped to undertake the works this year.
