HC Deb 12 September 1956 vol 558 c1W
Mr. Remnant

asked the Secretary of State for War why the Army contract for tea confines purchases to the product of India and Ceylon, thus excluding East Africa and Pakistan.

Mr. Head

We stipulate that tea shall consist of "a blend of teas of the Indian/ Ceylon types" in order to exclude China and other types of tea which are not required. We do not exclude the products of the countries mentioned or any others.
