§ 68. Mr. V. Yatesasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many prisoners have died at Parkhurst Prison since 1951; and how many have been permitted to the outside prison.
§ Major Lloyd-GeorgeSince 1st January, 1951, 37 prisoners have died in custody at Parkhurst prison. Early release would invariably be authorised if it appeared that continued imprisonment would endanger the prisoner's life or reason, but no prisoner has been released from Parkhurst Prison on these grounds during this period.
