§ Miss Hornsby-SmithMy right hon. Friend has received representations on behalf of the Institute of Hospital Administrators and the National and Local Government Officers Association. The Hospital Management Committee made the appointment after interviewing a short-list of seven candidates, and the Regional Board, which made inquiries at his request, was satisfied that it did so in the belief that this was the best candidate. That being so my right hon. Friend does not feel justified in intervening; but hospital authorities in Wales have been reminded of his view that experience in hospital administration is an essential qualification for the post of hospital secretary.
