§ Mr. H. NichollsI assume the hon. Member refers to afforestation by the Forestry Commission and not by private owners. The Commission plans to plant about 950 acres in East Denbighshire in the next two or three years and is actively negotiating for the acquisition of about 1,000 acres. The Commission's officers are continually searching for suitable land in this and other areas, and there is reason to hope that the area under plantations will increase substantially. Expansion may be limited by the importance for food production of much of the area and the existence of common rights on otherwise suitable land.
