§ 54. Mr. Swinglerasked the Secretary of State for War to give an estimate of what would be the annual cost to his Department of sending letters of up to one-and-a-half ounces in weight to and from soldiers stationed overseas by first-class air mail at the concessionary rate of 2½d. per letter.
§ Mr. F. MacleanAt present lightweight forces letter forms may be sent to or by Service men overseas for 2½d. I am advised that the extra cost of sending by air all letters under 1½ oz. for 2½d. would be about £500,000 a year for the three Services.
