IMMUNISED STATE OF CASES AND DEATHS IN CHILDREN UNDER AGE 15, 1950–54 Table II Year Cases notified Number immunised Deaths Number immunised 1950 653 202 35 7 1951 480 124 24 1 1952 255 89 17 1 1953 180 64 18 1 1954 104 36 6 — NOTES:
- 1. The immunised state of cases and deaths among children over age 15 is not recorded.
- 2. The number of children immunised shown above is derived from returns provided by local health authorities showing the number of cases and deaths where a full course of immunisation was known to have been completed.
- 3. The deaths from 1951 in Table I include the following numbers where the interval between onset of the disease and death exceeded more than one year: 1951, 3; 1952, 9; 1953, 3; 1954, 1.
- 4. No information is available from local health authorities to show how many children were immunised within five years of contracting the disease. In 1954 a special investigation which was made in 100 of the 104 cases notified showed that 24 of the cases occurred in children immunised within 5 years of contracting the disease.
- 5. Figures for the year 1955 are not available.
