HL Deb 02 May 1956 vol 197 c116WA
LORD GLYN

asked Her Majesty's Government whether arrangements can be made for a representative delegation of officials and experts of the Ministry of Fuel and Power to visit Soviet Russia and carry out a close inspection of the efficient methods there adopted for underground gasification, and thus avoid further "exploratory expenditure", as disclosed in the Ministry of Fuel and Power's recently published Report entitled British Trials in Underground Gasification.

THE MINISTER WITHOUT PORTFOLIO (THE EARL OF MUNSTER)

My right honourable friend the Minister of Fuel and Power believes that it might well be advantageous if, in due course, arrangements could be made for experts from this country to visit Soviet Russia for this purpose, but it does not automatically follow that further exploratory expenditure would be rendered unnecessary thereby.

House adjourned at twenty-six minutes before seven o'clock.
