HC Deb 02 May 1956 vol 552 cc41-2W
74. Mr. E. Johnson

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty what progress is being made with the investigation into the store-accounting system used by the Royal Navy; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Ward

As the result of preliminary investigation, there appears to be considerable scope for the introduction of up-to-date mechanised equipment for store accounting and, in particular, for the use of electronic data-processing equipment. Detailed information is being assembled for the purpose of discussions with manufacturers of data-processing equipment. It is unlikely that firm recommendations will be available for some time.
