HC Deb 02 May 1956 vol 552 cc40-1W
70. Sir R. Boothby

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty whether he is aware that there is a shortage of Gardner engines for the Scottish inshore fishing fleet; and whether he will take steps to facilitate the supply of these engines from those in his possession.

Mr. Wingfield Digby

I am aware that the delivery period for Gardner engines is now two years or more. I regret that it is not possible to give up any more of the engines already bought for naval use, but I have recently written to my hon. Friend suggesting another way in which the Admiralty might be able to help.
