HC Deb 28 March 1956 vol 550 c217W
Mr. Patrick Maitland

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the nature of his reply to recent communications from the Scottish Art Teachers' Association about the appointment of an independent committee to examine the qualifications and training of art teachers.

Mr. J. Stuart

In a letter of 17th March I informed the Association:

  1. (a) that on the recommendation of the National Joint Council I proposed to appoint a Committee to consider the relationship of the various qualifications held by the different groups of technical teachers, including art teachers, to each other and to other qualifications;
  2. (b) that their views on the composition of the Committee had been noted; and
  3. (c) that the Association's request to submit evidence and to be heard by the Committee would be for the Committee itself to consider when it had been appointed.
