HC Deb 15 March 1956 vol 550 cc77-8W
Sir I. Clark Hutchison

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what steps he is taking to allay the anxiety of teachers with the teacher's technical certificates as to their status and salaries.

Mr. J. Stuart

On the recommendation of the National Joint Council I propose to appoint a Committee to consider the relationship of the various diplomas in technical subjects to each other and to other qualifications.

The National Joint Council, in considering any difficulties that may have arisen through recent salary changes, and in deciding what recommendations to make with regard to salaries for these teachers will take into account the conclusions reached by this Committee.

Recommendations on the grading of teachers in further education (with which the recent Command Paper on Technical

on the registers at 31st December in each year.

Education was mainly concerned) were made by the special working party which reported more than a year ago, and were accepted as the basis of the further ducation salaries now in operation.
