§ Mr. Russellasked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation if he is aware that the roundabout at the junction of A1 and A41 at Mill Hill is too small to cope with peak hour traffic without the help of police officers; and if he will consider replacing it by traffic lights.
§ Mr. WatkinsonI understand that although it was found necessary for police officers to help drivers here during the recent icy weather, the police do not normally need to control traffic at this roundabout, which, up to the present, has worked satisfactorily. Some alteration to the layout may eventually be necessary if the traffic at this junction continues to grow, but I do not think that traffic light signals would be an improvement.
