§ Mr. Iain MacleodIn the week ended 26th November, the latest date for which comprehensive information for the manufacturing industries is available, there were 34,000 operatives on short-time. Since then the main changes that are known to have occurred are an increase of 20,000 in the manufacture of motor cars and accessories and a decrease of 6,000 in the cotton industry.
