§ 67. Mr. Willeyasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty what requests have recently been made to the Admiralty for assistance by Sunderland shipbuilding firms which are having difficulties in obtaining steel supplies; and what assistance has been given.
§ Mr. Wingfield DigbyThere has been one such request so far this year. We have taken the matter up with the British Iron and Steel Federation, but, because the firm concerned expects to receive more steel in 1956 than in 1955 or 1954, the Federation can promise it no more help until the needs of firms still receiving less than in 1954 have been met.
