§ Mr. Swinglerasked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation what representations he has received since the beginning of this year from associations of railway superannuitants about the financial hardships of their members; and what action he will take.
35W
§ Mr. WatkinsonI have received representations from various organisations on behalf of railway superannuitants. Some of these representations were met by the new scheme of pension supplements which the British Transport Commission introduced in April last. Representations received since that date have been mostly concerned with the limitations of the new scheme, and particularly with the fact that persons entitled to National Insurance pension from voluntary contributions do not benefit. The Commission are fully aware of these representations.
