§ Mr. J. StuartWhen the present housing subsidies were fixed in 1952 the rate of interest for housing loans was 4¼ per cent., as compared with the current rate of 5½ per cent. The increase since 1952 is £1 2s. a year on each £100 of the cost of the house over the loan period of sixty years.
