§ 23 and 24. Major Anstruther-Grayasked the President of the Board of Trade (1) if he will give a list of those firms which have informed him that they will not raise their prices during the next six months;
(2) whether he will make a statement on the response made by private firms to the Government's appeal to stabilise prices.
§ Mr. P. ThorneycroftI am aware from the Press that a considerable number of firms have recently stated that they do not intend to increase their prices during the next six months or longer. As the Prime Minister said last week, the Government welcome their action. Very few of them have notified me of their intentions, nor is there any reason why they should do so.
