§ Dame Irene Wardasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether before approving a slum-clearance scheme, he will assure himself that individual householders including widows, widowers, bachelors and spinsters, will be adequately rehoused in accordance with Section 45 of the Housing Act, 1936.
§ Mr. SandysI do not confirm a compulsory purchase or clearance order unless I am first satisfied that the local authority is able and willing to provide suitable accommodation, in so far as it does not already exist, for all persons displaced by the clearance of the area. The detailed arrangements for rehousing them must, of course, be left to the local authority.
