68. Mr. Godman Irvine

asked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance what action he proposes to take on the recommendation in November last by the National Insurance Advisory Committee that workers should be enabled to receive unemployment benefit in cases where their firm closes for a holiday when they have already taken two weeks' holiday with pay.

Regulations giving effect to this recommendation have been approved by the National Insurance Advisory Committee and have been laid today. They will come into operation on 1st March.
