§ 111. Sir D. Robertsonasked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation how many transatlantic passenger sailings between English ports and United States ports and vice-versa were made in 1955; and how many between Scottish and United States ports and vice-versa in the same year.
§ Mr. Watkinson321 such sailings were made from and 303 to English ports in 1955 whilst the numbers from and to Scottish ports were 25 and 23 respectively. About one-fifth of the sailings from and to English ports and all those from and 53W to Scottish ports were by ships having accommodation for not more than twelve passengers.
